Gorillas and Wildlife tour of Uganda 12 - DAYS
On this trip you will enjoy the beautiful landscape in south-western and western Uganda, Gorillas, Chimps and other primate species, and a wide range of mammals including the big five( lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes and rhinos), giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, hyenas, Antelope species, zebras, over 650 bird species, among others. Also you will see crater and fresh water lakes, tropical rain forests and the Batwa people.
Parks to be visited during Gorillas and Wildlife tour of Uganda: Murchison falls National Park, Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi Impenetrable and Lake Mburo National Park.
The trip will start from Kampala then to murchison falls national park, Kibale national park for chimpanzees, queen Elizabeth national park for the "big five" especially the tree climbing lions at Ishasha. You will then proceed south to Bwindi national park for the mountain gorilla experience and then ending the tour with a trip to lake Mburo national park to have a look at the zebras, impala and other species.
Itenerary for the 12-day tour
DAY ONE: LEAVE KAMPALA FOR ZIWA RHINO SANCTUARY AND MURCHISON FALLS
We meet and greet and then start on the journey to the park. We travel north through Luweero triangle and then get a chance to see Rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. We continue on our journey, have lunch and then proceed to the park. We will have a look at the beautiful falls standing on top of the Nile while looking down at these magnificent forces of nature. After enjoying the spectacle, we then Check in and rest.
DAY TWO: GAME DRIVE AND BOAT CRUISE AT THE NILE
We have breakfast and then start on the tour of the park. We drive through the park looking for buffaloes, giraffes, lions, leopards, primates, elephants several bird species and other wildlife. We break off for lunch
In the evening we go for a boat ride along the Nile river. Here you get a chance to look at the falls on a close range. This spectacle will leave you breathless, besides looking at the falls and listening to the roar of the water, you also enjoy the variety of animals along the river banks. These include Hippos, antelopes, crocodiles, buffaloes, birds and other animals as they are having a drink from the river.
DAY THREE: TRANSFER TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
Transfer to Kibale National Park and one the way we see the Butyaabaa escarpments and have a stop in tea plantations.
DAY FOUR: CHIMPANZEES AND OTHER PRIMATES EXPERIENCE
Primates to be seen are; Chimpanzees, Red tailed monkeys, Black and white Columbus monkeys, pottos, L’Hoest Monkeys, Grey cheecked Mangabey, bush babies and others. After spending time with the mammals, we then proceed to Bigodi Wetland sanctuary. Among the sites include; bush pigs, blue monkeys, baboons, mongoose, otters, bush bucks, and among others.
DAY FIVE: TRIP TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
We checkout and then start on our journey to queen elizabeth national park.
"Queen elizabeth national park that has over 95 mammal species including "the big five", over 600 species, hippos, 10 primate species including( L'Hoest monkey, baboons, red-tailed monkey, colobus, chimps etc), crocodiles, leopards, hyenas, antelopes, crater, salty and fresh-water lakes, and so many breathtaking scenery. The park is also famous for its tree climbing lions and it is located at the foothills of mountain rwenzori"
Upon arriving, you check in and the wait for the evening game drive. You will see a wide range of wildlife including Elephants, kobs etc.
DAY SIX: GAME VIEWING ON THE KAZINGA CHANNEL
You will have an early morning game drive to have a look at a variety of animals including elephants, buffaloes, lions, antelopes and several others. You should also look around for the Leopard
In the evening have a boat ride along the kazinga channel. Kazinga channel connects lake edward and lake George and a trip on the channel is the best way to see animals drinking water and those that are resting. Along the channel you will have a look at hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, antelope species and many more. Also see several bird species including the eagle, pelicans, king-fisher, etc.
Optional Activity: A view while on a Hot Air baloon
In case you want to have an wide view of the sites around the park, you can hire the baloon for one hour. However to hire the baloon you will have to pay an extra $380 per person.
DAY SEVEN: TREE CLIMBING LIONS IN ISHASHA
This is the third day in queen elizabeth national park. The main activity on this day is a trip to Ishasha camp famous for its tree climbing lions. However you will also have a look at other animals around the park and then in the afternoon we travel south to lake Bwindi Impenetrable National park for Gorilla tracking.
DAY EIGHT: GORILLA TRACKING EXPERIENCE
Wake up in the morning, have breakfast and then get briefing from the guide before starting on the gorilla trek. After freshening up, the trek for Gorillas and other primates begins. The trek will see you go through bamboo and tropical rain forests. Upon getting confirmation from the Gorilla Tracker about the where about of the primates, there will be resting for a short time before having a moment with the gorillas. Only one hour is allowed and you can take pictures, then embark on the trek back to the camp.
Bwindi forest is blessed with 360 bird species, 5 primates species, over 200 butterfly species and about 113 mammals, therefore along the way to meet the gorillas, you can have a glimpse of these sights.
DAY NINE: LAKE BUNYONYI
On this day you will enjoy the sights and sounds around lake Bunyonyi. You can have a wide range of activities including:
- Cultural tour
- Bird watching
DAY TEN: LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
You will have breakfast in the morning and then travel to lake mburo national park. This park is blessed with a variety of animal species. It is famous for its zebra and Impala, however you will also see other animals including: topis, waterbucks, antelopes, baboons, buffalo, eland, water hogs, crocodiles.
DAY ELEVEN: GAME DRIVE/NATURE WALK/HORSE RIDING/NIGHT GAME
In the morning we go for game drives. You can also have nature walks, horse riding or night game drives.
DAY TWELVE: BACK TO KAMPALA
Early in the morning, we can either go for another game drive or have a bush walk with an experienced guide. Upon finishing the trip, we start on the trip back to Kampala.
Note: The your flight should be in the afternoon or evening, otherwise we can organize accommodation for the overnight.
